In a letter to Fred Dallinger dated November 4, 1953, Arthur Stone wrote of this picture: "(This) was taken on Kimball's Point our first year in Lovell. As we broke camp that year on August 16th, I feel quite sure that the picture was taken reasonably soon before we left. ...

The "Kamp Kat Orchestra". In a letter to Fred Dallinger written by Arthur Stone on November 4, 1953 the picture is described to portray Dallinger "as a member of the famous Kamp Kat Orchestra. You were beating a tin pail, while I am banging together the covers in lieu of cymbals." The other two men in the picture are William Allison and Herbert Flint. Date of the picture is August 1889, during the first camping expedition of the future owners...
