Marriage License issued Jan 28, 1966 Married at Fryeburg Feb 11, 1966 The 2017 Lovell Annual Report was dedicated to him, with the following explanation: "Bruce 'Hoss' Thurston was born in an old farm house in Stow, Maine, on January 3, 1943. Being born in an old farm house was the perfect setting for the rough exterior and character that Bruce likes to portray. In truth he has one of the biggest hears of anyone you would ever meet. Bruce graducated from Fryeburg Academy in 1961. He joined the Army Reserves right after graduation. After basic training he came home and went to work at Holden Bros. Chevrolet in Fryeburg as a mechanic. They went to work for Donnie Chandler at Lovell Village Garage. He also worked for Fryeburg Academy for a short time. He has served as Fire Chief of the Lovell Volunteer Fire Department. At that time he got some of the younger folks interest in forming a Junior Fire Department. Bruce and Pat were married in 1966. They have two children Willi and Bryce, and five grandchildren: orie, Stefan, CJ, Jacob, and Nicole. Bruce bought Lortons Garage in 1968. This year, 2018, marks 50 years of being on his side of the white line at Thurstons Garage. The sign on the outside of his business says 'Thurstons Garage' but it is just a front, for on the inside awaits a man known as 'Dr. Hoss' ready and willing to fix not only your vehicle but also anything that 'you' may need fixing. Sometimes he is called the mayor of Lovell for he is always looking out for the people of this town." |
