Buried in Center Lovell Cemetery. Inscribed, "A sailor who served his country in the Civil War / A blacksmith in the town for many years / A woodsman skilled in his craft / A lover of nature who in the woods and waters of this pleasant place, found much to make life beautiful and enjoyable for his friends." He was the subject of an article in the Spring 2010 Newsletter. Some information provided by Ancestry.com Divorced in Oxford, ME in 1882. Wife died in 1884 and is buried in Naples. 1850 Census - living in Lowell, MA 1865 MA State Census - living in Lowell, MA with parents 1870 Census - living with wife in Naples; occupation farmer 1900 Census - boarding with Eckley Stearns in Center Lovell Enlisted in the Navy in 1864 and served for 13 months with the East Gulf Blockading Squadron (off of Florida) |
