Description |
Three photos of the brick house and the formal flower garden at Eastman Hill Stock Farm in the mid 1950's. The photo was used in the publication "The Lovell News" with the following caption: "The brick house on Eastman Hill was built in 1833 by Phineas Eastman. In 1912, Phineas’ grandson, Robert M. Eastman, returned to Lovell from the Midwest and reassembled the old family homestead for use as a summer retreat. Additional purchases in the 1920’s transformed the old rural farmstead into a country gentleman’s estate. Eastman Hill Stock Farm, as it became known, encompassed approximately 1,000 acres, three houses, the town poor farm and stock farm operations. When Robert Eastman died in 1932, he left most of the property to his wife Carrie and his daughter Patty." |
