Description |
Waterfront activities at Don Dickerman's camp. The photo was used in the publication "The Lovell News" with the following caption: "Don Dickerman (1893-1981)—noted artist, sportsman and entertainer—first visited Kezar Lake in 1911 and developed a lifelong love for the area. A few years later, when he was a nightclub owner in New York, Washington D.C., Miami and Hollywood he purchased land on the west side of the lake and developed Camp Kezar, catering to those in the entertainment world. He was known as "Captain Don" or "the Pirate" and he certainly was the liveliest summer resident Lovell has ever known. He promoted dances, watersport events, baseball games, and later in life helped revive Lovell Old Home Days." Used in the Summer 2009 Newsletter. |
