Written on back: Apples in barrels, off for England. Description of the photo for the Fall Harvest event included this: "In the late 1800's Maine became one of the principal apple growing regions of the world. Maine apples, including those from Lovell, were shipped throughout the eastern seaboard and a large apple trade was established between Portland and the ports of England." Photo enhanced and mounted for the Living in Lovell 1800 - 2000 Exhibit. Used in the Fall 2019 Newsletter. |
