The following information was gathered from Sumner Kimball's Journal #31: The store was owned by Elbridge Gerry Kimball, Sumner's father, in 1834. David Stearns bought the store from A.L.     Corn Canning in Lovell Village. On the front of the photo is written "Lovell Village - Corn canning - an industry of the nineties. On the back is written "Lovell Corn Shop - built in the early 1890's by James P. Baxter and Sons of Portland. Lovell farmers planted corn for the shop. Lovell people got jobs inside and young and old, rich and poor, "upper crust" and lower crust flocked to the husking shed to husk corn at 4 and 5 cents a basket." ...

  14. Dan Fox's Stump Puller - 1992.01.0005

    Written on back: "Dan Fox's stump puller." In 2010, Ed Bennett, who now owns the stump puller, recounted that he purchased the device from Leighton Brackett and believes it may have been owned by Leighton's father, Bert, rather than Dan Fox. It should be noted that in the Oct. 28, 1973 meeting minutes of the Lovell Historical Society, it was stated that "Dan Fox has donated a Stump Puller to the Society."

  16. Early Picture of The Narrows Bridge - 1978.01.0005

    An early picture of the Narrows Bridge at the lower end of Kezar Lake, when it was supported by rocks. The first wooden bridges were built in 1837 and 1846. They were both washed out and a ferry service replaced the bridge from 1846 until 1856, when a stone based bridge was built. The bridge was replaced with a steel structure in 1914 using the stone base and the last major renovation of the bridge was in 1958-59.
